ABOUT
Vanessa Codotti is an Italian director under 35 who works mainly with opera and site-specific performance.
His studies include Musicology at the University of Udine, Performing Arts at the University of Seville and Opera Direction at the Academy for Italian Opera in Verona.
As a director he made his debut in Spain in 2016 with a small production ofDido and Aeneas by H. Purcell for the Conservatory of Seville and in Scotland in 2019 withThe Traviata by G.Verdi for Fife Opera.
In Italy he made his debut in 2022 with a diptych composed ofThe driving school by Nino Rota eSinger, world premiere of Maurizio Agostini in Piazzale della Transapina in Gorizia and Nova Gorica as a show included in the official program "Go! 2025 European Capital of Culture" and broadcast on RAI.
In 2021 she was a finalist in the SOI Virtual Lyric Competition, creating a video for the LiedErlkonig, sung by soprano Gaja Pellizzari.
In 2022, together with my colleague Marialuisa Bafunno and the set designer Marina Conti, they will participate as a directing duo in the XII European Opera Prize with an unprecedented proposal for the operaThe Turn of the Screw, winning 4th prize at the final held at the Copenhagen Opera House.

Among his interests is making the language of opera more usable and closer to any segment of the public, also finding innovative solutions to separate the opera from the theater building, researching new ways of staging even in unconventional spaces .

She wrote and created the project "4 Sentieri, on the trail of the women of the woods", to give new life to local fairy tales and legends in their places of origin, often centered on the female figure.
